Ah… July 3rd, the big preparation day. Coal for the BBQ? Enough meat to feed a small army? Watched the Previous 2 Beer Friends videos in the Revolutionary Ales Series? (Tavern Porter – Tavern Ale) Now we come to the Poor Richards Tavern Spruce, the inventor of the bunch comes in with the inventive brew. This is such a treat I can’t write about it anymore… you’l just have to watch! Tavern brews! Liberty! Yards beer!
This week our Revolutionary Ale Series continues with Thomas Jeffersons Tavern Ale. At 8% ABV this is the heaviest hitter of the bunch, with the original recipe calling for all ingredients found on TJ’s plantation. This is the second in the series leading up to the 4th of July. Enjoy your freedom… enjoy Yards… enjoy Beer! (Responsibly!)
We are back after a few weeks… this is what happens when our production house is lazy (Brad…). Here at the Beer Friends we are always trying to find new and fun brews to review. The Rescue IPA from Barley Creek Brewing Company is right up our alley. This 20 year old brewpub doesn’t bottle and is probably the favorite of the locals – so we decided to bring a growler back to NYC and check it out. Brewpub! New Growler! Local Beer!
This week the Beer Friends travel a few states west to Pennsylvania, home of Harrisburg and Troegs Brewing. Troegs does some great stuff and had their Nugget Nectar ranked #13 in the Blue bracket (#50 overall) in this years BFF4. We’ve reviewed Troegs before and enjoyed the bread-y double bock, now we try their coffee stout. With Spring approaching – does this darker brew still taste as delicious? Watch and find out! Coffee! Beer! BFF4!
Last week we took a week off – mainly because we were deep in the Beer Friends Vault searching for a gem of a video. This weeks video was recorded quite some time ago for Victory’s Hop Devil. A good beer in it’s own right – however a certain Beer Friend purchased a six pack that was all over a year expired. This was the first of many Beer Friend Fails. Please be kind – we were still green under the ears, getting our feet wet, and all those other excuses for purchasing AND reviewing a year old beer. We’ve learned from our mistakes and just don’t record the expired beers we drink anymore. Victory! Reading Labels! Drink by date!
This weeks SPotW featured Victory Brewing Company from Downingtown, PA, however it also featured the Monkeytail Beard - a quickly rising grooming choice of gentlemen all-over. Victory is a favorite of the Beer Friends and we’ve enjoyed when they work with others. Grooming! Monkeytail! Beer themed reviews!
Hello Beer Friends Nation! Nothing says love more than ignoring that girlfriend/boyfriend and going online to TheBeerFriends.com to vote on some beers! This week we (again) travel all over for a variety of styles! Beer! Democracy!
February 14th – Sapporo Reserve Remember the last time you went to that half off sushi joint, sake bombs and a Sapporo chaser? Don’t be mistaken… this ain’t the same beer – this one has Reserve on the Label…
Today’s daily beer calendar comes from Stoudts Brewing Company in Adamstown, PA. Scarlet Lady ESB Ale is a deep red with a carmel taste and a ABV of 5%. Let’s see what the Beer Friends thought about it in special Thursday video review!
After a week off (well just one of us) the Six Pack of the Week is back! This week we are saluting Troegs from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, which won a Gold Medal and two Silver medals in this years Great American Beer Festival. We tried the Troegenator Double Bock which won a silver medal in the Bock category. Congrats! Beer!
