Tuesday, May 15 – Pony Bar Upper East Side Grand Opening @ The Pony Bar, Manhattan:
The Upper East Side just got way cooler – the genius minds behind The Pony Bar decided that the city needed more craft beer and delicious food and lucky UES-craft-beer-heads are getting the second installation. It’s been described as the second mecca of craft beer in NYC (after the first Pony of course). The new spot will be a bit bigger in size and is keeping with the same 20 taps/2 casks system. Of course everything will be $5 – an exceptionally reasonable price for some of the craft staples and specialty pours of which they always seem to have several on hand. On top of all that good stuff they will be keeping with the great food, music and rustic Americana atmosphere, all to provide you with arguably the best craft beer drinking experience in the city.
The UES Pony Bar is located at 1444 1st Ave on the corner of 75th St. in the Upper East Side, Manhattan (more…)

Hallelujah! The Apocalypse/Judgement Day/Coolest Party Ever has been averted! Well, maybe it wasn’t ever going to happen in the first place, or maybe somebody out there prayed really hard…or the Big Guy upstairs didn’t want to end the ingenuity of American Craft Brewing just yet. You know, just when it was starting to get good. (more…)

May. What a month. Spring flowers, worker’s rights, Mexican Fives and Memorial Day. May is like a non-stop party. What kind of beer should we drink to start this party? Ithaca Flower Power for the flowers? The Peoples Lager from China for May Day? Negro Modelo for Cinco de Mayo? A Southhampton Double White for Memorial Day? You know, cause we’re all double excited to finally be able to wear white now.
Tuesday, May 3 – Pretty Things “Once Upon A Time” Launch Party @ The Rye House, Manhattan:
Ever wonder what beer tasted like in 1855? The country was just about to be divided by civil

Hey all you Beer Friends out there! Let’s see what’s happening beer wise in this great metropolis of ours throughout this upcoming week.
Monday, October 11 – Troeg’s Tasting Event @ Amity Hall, Manhattan: Amity Hall is the place you go to when your nosing around Washington Square Park with your friends that are visiting the city and wanted to see Washington Square Park and then want beer. You know it’s there, you might not head to an NYU neighborhood regularly, but today you know that you will not take your friends to a light beer bar on Bleecker, but you will take them to a good craft beer bar on West 3rd. If all this happens to be happening tonight, Monday, October 11, then you will be in for a treat: Troeg’s Tasting Event. Troeg’s is a fantastic brewery from outside of Philadelphia. So after your friends have taken their respective pictures in front of the newly aligned fountain in Washington Square, bring them to Amity Hall, head upstairs and drink Troeg’s. They’ll thank you for saving them from tourist dogma.
Tuesday, October 12 – I Love NY Beer Week: Captain Lawrence Night @ The Spring Lounge, Manhattan: The Spring Lounge is a great beer bar that borders the entrance to Little Italy, a.k.a. many New Yorkers Tourist Nightmare (seems to be a theme today actually). However, you are not in Little Italy, nobody is throwing pasta at you and I promise you only have to choose 3 different flavors of gelato if you want to. The Spring Lounge is spending the week appreciating New York Breweries, from all over the state, starting with Captain Lawrence out of Kingston, NY. Come on by and grab some Westchester Pale Ale, Brown Bird Brown and Liquid Gold. And if you want, you can head over to Little Italy and get some gelato on your way out. You can even choose 3 flavors for the same price. If you want to.

Woah! Another craft brew filled week during Good Beer Month here in New York City…and this month is jam packed with events! Let’s check a few out.
Tues, July 20 – Rattle n’ Hum, Manhattan: Our favorite Empire State Building beer bar will be featuring Southern Tier Tuesday night. I am a big fan of the imperal ales from this brewery, I am specifically looking forward to the Oak Aged Unearthy and the Farmers Tan Imperial Pale Lager.
Then I’ll move to Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale for something a little lighter…
Tues, July 20 – Jimmy’s No. 43, Manhattan: Every Tuesday this East Village basement cavern of craft brew holds $10 beer tastings with brewing experts. This Tuesday will feature American made German style beer led by Sean from Victory Brewery. Sean and the guys at Victory are just coming off a successful event over at Blind Tiger last Wednesday night. Apparently they just decided to keep it rolling. We’re okay with that.

Hola! Beer Friends here and instead of doing the stereotypical Cinco de Mayo celebratory thing – the Beer Friends did Rogue beer and Oysters! While enjoying the beautiful summer-like weather, we enjoyed the wide variety of pulls offered at Blind Tiger on Bleecker St. and had a few rounds of Yakima Bay Oysters. Viva la Oregon! Viva la Rogue! Here is a sampling of the night: (more…)
