Hashtag Battles Season 2 – Week 5

October 7, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

In the spirit of competition, Beer Friends would like to invite everyone to our second season of NFL hashtag battles! Using hashtagbattle.com we will pit two breweries against each other when their NFL counterparts are facing off on the gridiron. Are you ready for some football? And drinking? And #hashtag battle?!?!?!

What’s a hashtag battle? When you’re drinking a beer of a brewery competing in the battle, throw a #hashtag of the brewery and tweet it (or setup your foursquare or untappd to push to tweet and include the #hashtag) and we’ll use hashtagbattle.com to declare a winner after the Monday Night football game on ESPN. Support your team, support your beer, drink local and hashtag battle!

Beer Review 128: Opa Opa IPA

October 4, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Today we review a beer that we enjoyed at our friends, Larry and Niki’s Wedding.  Larry and Niki met in NYC, that’s where we met them, then moved to Massachusetts and got married up there, and that’s where we got the beer – Opa Opa IPA.  Opa Opa is a brewery and steakhouse, which I don’t know how you could get any better (inflatable jumping tent in parking lot?),  located in Southampton, MA and offers a few different styles.  This Beer Friend has enjoyed the IPA, the Red Rock Amber Ale, and the American Wheat – I’d go back to try their King Oak Milk Stout and R2K (Bourbon-barrel aged Barleywine).  Let’s welcome Larry and Niki as newlyweds and Opa Opa to the Table!

Beer Review 122: Cape Cod Beer Stock Stout

August 8, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

In between the Cape Cod Interviews (Part 1Part 2) we’ve placed a few reviews, some of the stuff you can get most of the time (IPARed) but a lot is rare stuff (Bourbon Aged Red1000th Batch Imperial RedStargazer Stout) because we like to show off (we’ve very insecure).  Today’s review falls into the latter category with Stock Stout.  Stout Stock is a milk stout created with coffee beans from Beanstock Coffee, another Cape business promoting all things good that are “The Cape.”  This delicious pour is made with Bali Blue Moon Organic Coffee and, as you’ll see in the video, creates a really unique smooth flavor.  Coffee!  Beer!  Cape Cod!

Brewery Interviews: Cape Cod Beer Part 2

August 6, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Today is Part 2 of our 3 part Cape Cod Beer Interview with Beth Marcus (with special appearance by Todd).  Last Interview Beth, Brad and Paul discussed the origins of Cape Cod Beer, their “1 Barrel Series,” and the creation of their Christmas in July speciality brew.  This week continues on the origins and into the future of the company (a little bit – this isn’t a stockholders meeting).

Beer Review 121: Cape Cod Beer IPA

August 1, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Well, here we are, in the heat of summer and everyone is thinking about the beach.  How about beach, seafood, and delicious beer?  Well, look no further and travel up to Cape Cod to find all three, the last in the form of Cape Cod Beer.  Cape Cod Beer has been featured a few times on our little beer blog here (RedBourbon Red1000th Batch Imperial RedStargazer Stout) and recently we’ve started posting an interview we had with Beth Marcus, Business Manager and Founder.  Today we review a staple of the Cape Cod Beer line up, simply put – the IPA.  Continue to stop by for more Cape Cod beer Interviews and Review.  Beach! Cape Cod! Beer!

Brewery Interviews: Cape Cod Beer Part 1

July 30, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Now we’ve already featured Cape Cod Beer in a brewery of the week feature, but we love them and upon a visit and a brief conversation with Beth (the Business Manager) and Todd Marcus (Brewmaster/Founder/President/Beth better half) we decided to go back to the well… of delicious Cape Cod Beer.  This is the first in a 3 part series – check back the next three weeks for the continuation and final part of the Cape Cod Beer interview – and be sure to visit them, they are really great.

Beer Review 120: Cape Cod Beer 1000th Batch Imperial Red

July 24, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

It’s no surprise or secret that the Beer Friends love Cape Cod Beer.  We’ve reviewed some of their stuff in the past (Cape Cod Beer RedStargazer Stout) and we’ve been fortunate to sit down with Beth, the Business Manager and talk about their story a little (which you’ll see in the upcoming days/weeks).  Today we reviewed the 1000th Batch which Cape Cod Beer decided was going to be a Imperial Red.  After 1000 batches this beer/beer company continues to impress and we’re all excited for the next 1000.  Imperial Red!  1000 Batches!  Cape Cod Beer!

P.S. – Sorry about the Auto-focusing and light adjustments – using new equipment.

Beer Review 110: Cape Cod Beer Stargazer Stout

April 19, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

This week, in the middle of our BFF4, we review last years runner up (and Beer Friend favorite) Cape Cod Beer.  Cape Cod Beer is located in Hyannis, MA and is a very local brewery (can’t even get it in Boston).  One of the best things about Cape Cod Beer is you need to go to Cape Cod and enjoy their brews fresh – hopefully with a platter from Seafood Sam’s on a warm summer day – sounds like paradise.

Over the next couple weeks we will have a series of videos about Cape Cod Beer.  Stay tuned for videos including interviews and another review.

PS – Sorry for the poor lighting, focus and camera angle – trying out new equipment and debating getting our money back!

Disclaimer: Beth’s official title is “business manager” – sorry Beth!  You know we’d NEVER do anything to upset you!

Beer Review 98: Sam Adams Winter Lager

January 18, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Instead of a cheesy clip show, Beer Friends decided to go way back and show our roots.  This is a shorter video because, besides the fact that we don’t really know what we’re doing – and we didn’t give number ratings (we didn’t even yell Beer Friends!).  As we journey closer to Beer Review 100, take a look back at our 2009 review of Sam Adams Winter Lager.  Check out Sam Adams Latitude 48, Coastal Wheat reviews as we moved on and got a little bit better.

Beer Review 97: Harpoon Winter Warmer

January 11, 2012

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Another blast from the past this week as we drink and review Harpoon‘s Winter Warmer.  Look how young and green we look!  This was taken in 2009 and – as the video shows… we didn’t really know what we were doing.  As we creep closer to 100 Reviews we’ll take a look back at our modest beginnings.
