New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of July 24, 2011

July 27, 2011

Hello all you Beer Friends out there!  We’d like to apologize for releasing the craft brew events a bit late this week.  We promise it’s not because we drank too much craft brew.  Actually we’ve been so caught up with our different regional brewery tours – the South, Southern California (Day one, two, three and Stone) and Boston/Cape Cod – that we were late for the boat this week.  Although, I suppose that’s from drinking too much craft brew during our brewery tours.

Anywho’s – we got a great (half) week of events for ya!  Enjoy! (more…)

It is the unofficial half way point of Good Beer Month 2011!

Unofficial because I mostly just made it up… But forget all that.   It’s time to talk about good beer, and here are some great events you should keep your eye on this week.

New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of July 3, 2011

July 4, 2011

We definitely have a reason to celebrate this weekend.  Actually, two reasons.

First, we celebrate the great country we live in.  A country, that sense its beginning has encouraged ingenuity and creativity among its citizens.  It’s that common instinct that inspires that brewers of the craft beer that we love to do what they do.  It’s why the craft beer industry has continued to be successful and grow by leaps and bounds every year. Craft Beer is as natural to America as fireworks and cookouts on the 4th of July.

We also get to celebrate craft beer itself.  As deemed by the brewers and craft beer bar owners behind The Good Beer Seal, July is Good Beer Month.  Now here at the Beer Friends believe every month should be Good Beer Month.  But we’re pretty okay with picking one out and giving it a name.  So tomorrow, while your cooking out and watching the fireworks, raise your glass of your favorite brew in a toast to craft beer and to America, the country that not only allows craft beer to exist, but inspires it’s incredible and delicious diversity.

Enjoy the events:

Tuesday, July 5 – The Big Le-Brewski Event: Part 2 @ Rattle n’ Hum, Manhattan:

Sit down.  If you’re sitting – get closer to the ground.  I’m about to unload every craft beer lovers dream on you.  Imagine (more…)

NYC Beer Events – Week of 10/24

October 25, 2010

Hola Beer Amigos.  As October winds to a close the temperatures will continue to drop and the wind will start to pick up blowing that pre-winter chill right through to our bones.  A good remedy for the precursory signs of winter is to step into your local NYC Craft Beer Bar and grab the last of the fall brews or, if you’re lucky, the first of our winter style favorites. Craft Beer Week Continues – Events for the Week of 9/27-10/2

September 27, 2010

I don’t know how you all felt about the ‘opening ceremonies’ of New York City Craft Beer Week but over here at the Beer Friends we thought it was just fantastic. Ithaca had some tasty brews pouring over at the Pony Bar, the Get Real NY Cask and Food festival was for real with 80+ casks pouring and 20+ local restaurants serving up their best samples, the Staten Island beer festival had some of the Beer Friends favorite breweries on hand and saying the Atlantic Antic was antic would be an understatement. You’ll be hearing more about these events as Craft Beer Week sprints along, but for now let’s see what we have coming to us in the week ahead.

NYC Craft Beer Events – Week of 8/29 – 9/4

August 30, 2010

This week August ends and we start our transition into fall.  The weather will get a bit cooler but we have many things to look forward too in the beer world.  Fall spice brews and Octoberfest’s will start to grace the beer menu’s at our favorite craft brew bars and we can finally go back to seasonally enjoying the darker beers in life.  Let’s see what we have to look forward to this week as fall starts peering around the corner.

Tuesday, August 31 – Hodgepodge Event @ Jimmy’s No. 43: The East 7th Street craft beer legend has a fantastic series of events, every Tuesday, called $10 Tastings.  They’ll bring in brewers and beer experts, including their own famous expert/owner Jimmy Carbone (co-founder of The Good Beer Seal) and for $10 you get to taste and talk about the featured craft brews.  This event is truly Hodgepodge.  Jimmy’s is going deep into their bottle collection and pulling out some of their favorite brews for this week’s tastings.  When a place as renowned as Jimmy’s No. 43 goes into their bottle cellar and pulls out their favorites for you to taste for a 10-spot, you’d want to be there.

New York City Good Beer Month – Week of July 26

July 27, 2010

It is sad, but it is true….this is the last week of New York City Good Beer Month. We at the Beer Friends would like to give a huge thanks to the guys over at the Good Beer Seal for coming up with the NYC Good Beer Month idea, getting the mayor to proclaim it to be true and then organizing a multitude of good events with local bars, breweries and organizations to highlight how much this city loves its craft beer. If this isn’t a sign that the Craft Beer Revolution is in full force, then I don’t know what is. (more…)
