New York City Craft Beer Events for the Week of April 17

April 18, 2011

Hello all you Beer Friends out there!  I’m sure by now you have all heard that Nebraska Brunette Nut Brown is the 2011 Beer Friends Final Four Champion! Congratulations Nebraska!  It was an amazing tournament this year but if you’re anything like me then you’ve been wandering around aimlessly, trying to find something to fill the void now that it’s over.  I have just the thing for you:  Sours, Kegs n Eggs, Evil Twins, Breakfast Stouts from Kentucky and a Cask Beer Festival in Brooklyn.

I think that should do the trick…

Tuesday, April 19 – $10 Tuesday Tastings ‘April Sours’ @ Jimmy’s No. 43, Manhattan:

April Sours bring May Flowers?  I think so, but you won’t have to wait until may to get those flowers.  Jimmy’s No. 43 is offering a selection of sours to sample this Tuesday night as part of their weekly $10 Tuesday Tastings series.  Sours are (more…)

Featured Brewery: Boulder Beer Company

October 26, 2010

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

Boulder Beer Company Logo30 minutes Northwest of Denver lies the liberal central of Colorado, Boulder.  Home to University of Colorado, the majestic Flatirons, and Boulder Beer Company.  Boulder Beer Company is Colorado’s First Microbrewery, which is pretty impressive given the number of breweries in Colorado.  The Beer Friends traveled to Boulder on their recent Colorado Brewery Trip on route to beautiful Red Rocks Amphitheater and had a few samples.  Are are a few highlights:

Cold Hop was fantastic out (t)here.  We can find this beer in NYC and really enjoy it, but always think it can be a little something more.  Direct from the brewery was fantastic.

There was nachos in the middle…

Mojo IPA is a good beer, but having it on the sampler platter close to the Mojo Risin Double IPA is unkind and unfortunate for regular Mojo.  Mojo Risin is everything us “hopheads” want out of a beer – drinkable and hoppy – but not over spiced.  Mojo is a good introduction IPA for people and Mojo Risin is a good IPA for us veteran drinkers out there.

Obovoid Stout is a delicious stout by any means.  This is creamy enough to have hints of a milk stout but is a oak-aged Oatmeal Stout instead.  Always a delicious pour and a excellent beer for the upcoming fall and winter seasons.

The Boulder Beer Company is located at: 2880 Wilderness Place, Boulder, CO 80301

The tasting Room is open:

11a – 9p Monday through Friday
