Tuesday, June 26 – Tuesday Night Tastings: Summer Beers @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:
Now that the heat waves and oppressive humidity have finally arrived to New York, it’s finally time to switch our seasonal beer drinking over to Summer. Join Bierkraft cellar manager Matt Barclay tonight for a walk-through of the summer beer style, which these days seems to contain everything from citrus, to grass to beach balls. Make sure you wear your sunscreen – it’ll be a scorcher.
Bierkraft is located at 191 5th Avenue between Berkeley and Union Streets in the Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Wednesday, June 27 – Beer Geek Boner Night @ The Double Windsor, Brooklyn:
The management over at the Double Windsor found some buried treasure recently – literally. At least, we here at the Beer Friends believe that finding a bunch of kegs of rare and big beers, deciding to tap them all at once and throwing a party on top of it all in celebration pretty much equates to discovering buried treasure. You’ll want to try each of the four kegs they tap, which for once seems reasonably doable. Here’s the list:
- Cantillon Kriek
- Hill Farmstead What Is Enlightenment?
- Founders Kentucky Breakfast Stout 2011
- Alesmith IPA
X mark’s the spot.
The Double Windsor is located at 210 Prospect Park West on the northwest corner of 16th Street in the Windsor Terrace neighborhood of Brooklyn.
Wednesday, June 27 – Servers Favorite Beers! @ George Keeley’s, Manhattan:
Bartenders – they pour you brew after brew for the pure sake of satiating your desire for strong, delicious drink – but do they ever get to make any of the big time decisions? Well yes actually. This Wednesday at the UWS George Keeley’s the bartenders are deciding what goes on tap – and they’ve picked quite the selection. Check out the list of breweries to be featured:
Alesmith, Green Flash, Oskar Blues, Two Brothers, Victory, Liefmanns and more – with hints of some special private cellar reserves making an appearance.
You’ll want to head over and thank them for their hard work.
George Keeley’s is located at 485 Amsterdam between 83rd and 84th streets in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan.
Friday, June 29 – Mission Brewery Tasting @ The Whole Foods Bower Beer Room, Manhattan:
If we were campaigning for office, any office really, one of our promises would be to bring more Mission Brewery beer from San Diego to New York City. Even though the trustworthy Beer Friends don’t currently hold any offices to fight for this issue, it seems to be happening anyways, which will keep us out of politics for at least a few more years. Mission Brewery will be pouring a short list of their brews at The Bowery Beer Room this Friday and you surely would not want to miss it – who knows when they’ll pop up again in NYC with their delicious SoCal brews?
IPA, Shipwreck Double IPA, and Blonde for samples and what they are calling a “rare treat or two” on draft.
The Whole Foods Bowery Beer Room is located at 95 East Houston Street on the corner of Chrystie Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan.
