Beer Review 111: “Can” You Taste the Difference? Sierra Nevada Torpedo
April 20, 2012Hello Beer Friends Nation!
Fresh off (recovering) our Live Blog of Idle Hands Sierra Nevada Night we have this review and blind taste test of Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Now Torpedo was the first beer we reviewed and just recently they followed the latest trend in craft beer… canning craft beers. In this review we revisit Sierra Nevada Torpedo and give a rating based on the canned version along with a discussion of the pros and cons of canning beers. This is a little longer video – but a two parter! Consider this part of our “Ken Burns” series of reviews. Cans! Nostalgia! Famous Documentarians!
Beer Review 110: Cape Cod Beer Stargazer Stout
April 19, 2012Hello Beer Friends Nation!
This week, in the middle of our BFF4, we review last years runner up (and Beer Friend favorite) Cape Cod Beer. Cape Cod Beer is located in Hyannis, MA and is a very local brewery (can’t even get it in Boston). One of the best things about Cape Cod Beer is you need to go to Cape Cod and enjoy their brews fresh – hopefully with a platter from Seafood Sam’s on a warm summer day – sounds like paradise.
Over the next couple weeks we will have a series of videos about Cape Cod Beer. Stay tuned for videos including interviews and another review.
PS – Sorry for the poor lighting, focus and camera angle – trying out new equipment and debating getting our money back!
Disclaimer: Beth’s official title is “business manager” – sorry Beth! You know we’d NEVER do anything to upset you!

April 18, 2012Wednesday, April 18 – Ballast Point Tasting @ The Stag’s Head, Manhattan:
It seems just a little while ago I was basking in the glorious glow of the Ballast Point brewery’s chalkboard menu searching the smorgasboard, planning all the delicious pints I would consume. Now, tonight, Ballast Point is bringing their lineup to Manhattan and the Stag’s Head. They’ll be featuring 6 draft lines including Victory at Sea and San Salvador. And as always – free food. (more…)

April 11, 2012Beer Review 109: Troegs Java Head
April 11, 2012Hello Beer Friends Nation!
This week the Beer Friends travel a few states west to Pennsylvania, home of Harrisburg and Troegs Brewing. Troegs does some great stuff and had their Nugget Nectar ranked #13 in the Blue bracket (#50 overall) in this years BFF4. We’ve reviewed Troegs before and enjoyed the bread-y double bock, now we try their coffee stout. With Spring approaching – does this darker brew still taste as delicious? Watch and find out! Coffee! Beer! BFF4!
