Beer Review 95: Lagunitas Sucks Holiday Ale

December 27, 2011

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

This week we tried the Lagunitas Sucks Holiday Ale, which is Lagunitas apology for not being able to brew the Brown Sugga Winter Seasonal.  We missed a week because our studio had the week off, but this is the second in our holiday beer series.  Although late to the table, you’ll be able to find these beers for a while still, so watch and then crack open one for yourself and enjoy!

Happy Holidays from all of us here at the Beer Friends.  We hope you had a great weekend, celebrating with family, eating great food and drinking great craft beer.  We’re sorry if now that the holiday weekend is over you have to go back to work, however if you have a nice, week-long vacation then you’re in for some excellent craft beer event hunting.  Here are a few favorites…

Tuesday, December 27 – Tuesday Night Tastings: Leftovers Edition @ Bierkraft, Brooklyn:

One of the best and worst parts of the holidays – leftovers.  Great for the first day, terrible after having eaten them for lunch and dinner 3 days in a row.  Bierkraft has solved this problem – invite everyone over for a big leftovers party where you give away all the best stuff you consumed on your holiday.  Their cellar manager Matt Barclay has raided Bierkraft’s stockpile of great brew they didn’t sell during the holidays and is serving it up Tuesday.  I wouldn’t miss a chance for a peek in Bierkraft’s cellar if I were you… (more…)

Beer Review 94: Shipyard Prelude Special Ale

December 13, 2011

Hello Beer Friends Nation!

A special thanks out to the few of you that watched our very first live beer review on our Justin.tv channel.  We’re still not used to the live (internet) tv thing and a few of us might have acted unprofessional (sorry I broke the seal too early).  Check out our Justin.tv channel for the unedited versions of a few reviews while we were working the kinks out.  The beer was from Portland, Maine’s Shipyard Brewery which is probably most famous for their pumpkin brew “Pumpkinhead” and now the Prelude is popping up, labeled as the perfect “winter warmer”.  Live Reviews!  First Winter Warmer!  Portland… Maine!
