New York Beer Week at Amity Hall

May 13, 2010

Hey Beer Friends Nation,

The Beer Friends headed over to the Amity Hall beer hall in Greenwich Village last night to take part in the Great Brewers sponsored New York Beer Week Festival.   The festival was aimed at showcasing New York State’s newest and finest breweries with some of their tastiest products.  The breweries included Ommegang, Southern Tier, Ithaca, Six Point, Green Port Harbor, Brooklyn, Saranac and a handful of other Empire State brews.

The selection was broad and definitely covered the entire state of New York as well as a wide variety of styles and interpretations.  They also had several rarely released brews and first time/hard to get in New York City brews.  The selection included a few cask ales as well as some brews that are usually poured from casks but are making rare appearances as drafts (Brooklyn Blast!).   All in all it was a nice night where the Empire State shined by the light of it’s craft beer brewers.

If you love craft beer and you love New York State (and live in the NYC tri-state area) you should make an attempt to head on over to Amity Hall for the Great Brewers New York Beer Week festival.

Hola!  Beer Friends here and instead of doing the stereotypical Cinco de Mayo celebratory thing – the Beer Friends did Rogue beer and Oysters!  While enjoying the beautiful summer-like weather, we enjoyed the wide variety of pulls offered at Blind Tiger on Bleecker St. and had a few rounds of Yakima Bay Oysters.  Viva la Oregon!  Viva la Rogue!  Here is a sampling of the night: (more…)

Cinco de Mayo! Bonus Beer Review #16!

May 5, 2010

Hola!  Cerveza Amigos here with a bonus Beer Review!  In honor of our favorite holidays (the ones where you get to drink) we are reviewing a beer recommended to us by a friend of ours… you might know him as the Most Interesting Man in the World – we know him as William.  So we picked up a six-pack of the Dos Equis Amber – cheers!
